Beautiful craftmanship -- perfect weight for Southeastern Winters Jan 26, 2010
Despite being an avid knitter with a ginormous stash, it seems like I never have time to knit for myself. I keep meaning to knit myself a scarf but then when I get done with it, I wind up giving it to someone it a fit of generosity. As a result, I'm kinda picky about hand-knit items I receive. I needed a scarf because it has gotten COLD and there is no way I could crank out one fast enough.
I saw this scarf and loved the color and the trim and the fact that it was alpaca. I decided to take a chance and it arrived today is just as beautiful as the pictures. The workmanship is lovely -- particularly the edging detail. It came wrapped with a hand-knit crochet flower which is a really nice touch and can be used as a pin or sewn to the scarf for an extra bit of decoration.
The scarf is fairly light weight -- however, that is perfect for where I live and it will not add too much bulk over or under my coat even if doubled.
The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is that it is not as soft as would be expected for 75% alpaca. However, it is still soft enough for next-to-the-skin wear (at least for me).
I would not hesitate to buy another Patricia Avenue Item and overall, I'm very happy with this purchase... It is exactly what I was looking for.
